Cucumbers
GROWING CUCUMBERS-for an early crop start the seeds in Jiffy-7's or peat pots 3 to 4 weeks prior to outdoor planting. Set plants out after the danger of frost is past. Seeds sown directly in the soil should be planted when the soil warms to 60°F. Plant 5 to 6 seeds in hills 4 to 5 feet apart, thinning to 3 plants. A packet (except hybrids) will plant 12 to 15 hills, 1 oz. about 50 hills. To save space and get straight cucumbers grow on a fence or netting. Approximately 1000 seed per ounce.
