Asclepia tuberosa (A. tuberosa) Zones 3-9. Butterflies are attracted to the fragrant nectar of this rugged, sun-loving perennial. Clusters of star-shaped flowers are produced in July and August. In fall the milkweed-type seed pods can be picked for dried arrangements. Bushy plants vary in height from 12 inches to 3 feet or more. They are slow to appear in spring, so mark them well. Tolerates poor, sandy soil. Orange flowers. Full sun.
